How to take action for achieving success.

 

How to take action is needed when trying to achieve any kind of success because most people will stop when action is required. For some people, it is a scary step to take but it doesn’t have to be.

 

When I talk about success this can be anything from completing all of your chores on time, building a new project, starting a work-out program to starting out a new business idea.

 

There are many ingredients to achieving something you want and when putting them all together you will become unstoppable. However, “action” is and always will be the key ingredient to achieving anything you want. It is “action” that gets the ball rolling.

 

Most of the problems in life are because of two reasons: we act without thinking or we keep thinking without acting.

 

Think before action – remember your “why”

 

 

You can learn how to take action by learning some simple steps, so let’s start here. Let’s first put into thought what it is you want.

 

Think about what you want, then think of the final results only.

 

Think of how happy you are seeing all of your efforts made your dreams come true. Really get into this because feeling good about something helps you take action to complete the tasks at hand.

 

I remember wanting to start a new project but had no idea how. All of these thoughts were racing through my head trying to figure out how I was going to accomplish this.

 

I then decided to slow down and think why am I even trying this if it’s going to make me crazy like this. That is when it hit me.

 

So I started to think of the end results. I saw my success before I even started one idea and I saw how happy I was. I realized right then and there the “why” which started to give me some clarity.

 

Even during the project, I may have gone so far then realizing I had to backtrack because of something I forgot or sometimes I had to change directions because it was the better thing to do. Instead of getting myself into an uproar over wasted time, I stopped and saw my “why” again which calmed me down to continue.

I decided to think about my why before going to bed at night and a few minutes before starting my day. I found the more I did this the less stressed I felt and the easier the project became. See, when you do something you love, it is never really hard to do because you want it so bad. Granted, not everything you must do in life is a dream. For those other tasks, I would always think of the end result

 Make a List

 

No matter the project a list must be created. Creating lists help guide you through your project and help keep you on track. The last thing you want is to have everything bottled up in your head only to cause chaos.

 

Some projects will be simple to create with steps one through seven while others may be a bit more complicated. If your project has multiple stages, then create one list for the starting stage only.

For multiple stages of a large project, go ahead and make your list for the starting stage. Then only a few bullet points for the other stages. If you go too far into a project creating every little detail, you may be wasting your time. Sometimes the projects can grow while creating them. You may find that one of your stages may need a complete overhaul and make a list would have been a waste of time.

 

When I was just starting out on my project I found that I had 4 stages to my project. I also had two “must do” daily tasks before I could ever start working on the first stage. So I decided to always do these two daily tasks first thing.

 

I could work on stage 1 the rest of the day without having to wonder when do I need to stop to make sure the daily tasks were completed. I had the list and followed it which made it simpler.

By having a list, some days I was able to get completed early. This helped me to be able to choose whether I wanted to continue with extra work, look into my other stages for learning purposes knowing it was not interfering with stage one or taking time off to relax

Start, do not wait

 

Once your list is completed…START! You do not want to wait until the start of a new week, the beginning of a new year or when the full moon comes out. The whole process of taking action is getting started now. It is important to do something every single day, even if some days you may have other plans to attend to.

 

Let’s say you must attend a wedding, no problem, figure out the day before what it is you can do for say, an hour to complete or get started. I would never take a day off even if I had plans because I always knew I could do something, even the smallest thing made me feel like I was accomplishing something.

 

 

 

You must be accountable for your own actions. No one is going to be there and say “Get up, let’s go, get to work.” I can only teach you what you need to do but you must hold yourself to a higher standard than you would anyone else.

 

Key Takeaway

Not only do you complete more work doing this but you have a sense of pride in yourself. Remember, if things get a little hard inside you’re own head, think back to the first step of “why”. Do not use it as an excuse to sit around for an hour dreaming, it is only to get you back on track

Don’t take it too seriously

 

Listen, whatever it is you are about to embark on, you want it to be fun. I mean, why are you doing this anyway? If you have issues getting normal daily tasks completed, then figure out a game for it. I had a friend who felt he was spending too much time doing daily chores and felt he had no time to start something he has wanted to do for a long time.

 

The one thing both of us enjoy is competing against each other so I suggested try competing against yourself. I told him to time himself one day and see if he could beat that time the next day.

 

After a couple of days not only did he like it but at night he would figure out ways to get his time down quicker giving himself even more time to do what he wanted.

 

If it is a project you have wanted to do say a new business idea, then again, remember you are doing this because you want to, not because you have to. Do not get all wrapped up in how much you completed one day and hardly anything at all the next.

That is not what is important here. The important thing is you are constantly moving forward towards a goal that may one day change your life. The last thing you want is to tell everybody “Hey I am starting a new business to make me happier” and then turn around and be miserable. That defeats the whole purpose.

Feel exuberant

 

Sometimes what also helps people get things accomplished is music. The science behind the music is phenomenal. The reactions of your brain on music changes the way you think and act. Although music is different for everyone, it works for all individuals.

 

When I write, I listen to relaxing study music or concentration music. I have found during the times I put on my headphones listening to this type of music, I write longer and concentrate better. However, if I am in my garage building something (I love working with wood) I put on 70’s and 80’s rock music.

 

This music gets me excited, let’s my memory remember fun times I had when I was young. Again, I can be in there all day working. Most times when I am in my car I enjoy listening to audiobooks. Although this is not music, it is a form of listening and provides me with the quiet time I am looking for to study.

 

So, find the right pair of headphones for you and shut the rest of the world out. Take action and get to work. Learning how to take action does not have to be so overwhelming if you remember these few steps and put them into practice. Can’t wait to see what you create.
